POSITION SUMMARY: COIC has an opening for a Payroll Specialist to provide day-to-day administration of COIC’s payroll system and process monthly payroll transactions. Responsible for processing payroll and answering general employee questions regarding payroll, wage deductions, paystubs and withholdings.

Process, review, and maintain employee timesheets and all payroll system changes (TimeForce and MAS-90). In coordination with the Human Resources Department, enter all new hire paperwork in the payroll system; maintain employee payroll records, PERS records, deferred comp records, employee group and voluntary life insurance records, Workers’ Compensation claims and unemployment claims. Verify and maintain leave and accrual information, calculate and prorate wages and leave benefit amounts. 

Balance, reconcile, process and submit monthly, quarterly and annual tax reports to the Oregon Department of Revenue and the Internal Revenue Service. Perform other duties as assigned.

We are looking for qualified candidates with extensive payroll experience and ability, who works well in a team setting as well as independently.  If you are self-motivated, accurate and detailed oriented, we encourage you to apply for this position.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS: High School graduate or equivalent plus three (3) years of experience payroll or in related field. Certificate program recommended.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:  This is a non-exempt hourly position.  Depending on experience, the starting hourly rate of pay will be $17.66 – $19.30 an hour. Low deductible Health Insurance includes dental and vision coverage for employee and dependents.  Full time employees pay 10% of the total monthly premium.
