Warm Springs Transportation strategies session - Feb 23

COIC is updating the Central Oregon Human Services Transportation Coordination Plan and we want to hear from Warm Springs residents. The public, including citizens and representatives of any organizations that work on human services and transportation issues, are invited to attend the Warm Springs Strategy Session on February 23rd at 2 PM at High Lookee Lodge, 2321 Ollallie Ln, Warm Springs.

The purpose of the meeting is to refine strategies for transportation solutions related to populations identified as low-income, persons with disabilities, and seniors.

The plan will be reviewed by the Special Transportation Funding (STF) committee of Warm Springs later this spring, and subsequently forwarded to the Tribe for adoption. While the Coordination Plan is a regional plan for Central Oregon, the plan will contain chapters dedicated to each county’s and the tribe’s unique needs and solutions.

The purpose of the Coordination Plan is to 1) identify transportation gaps and barriers for persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and low-income populations in accessing needed health and social services; and 2) to prioritize solutions (actions, projects, programs, operations, etc.) to meet identified needs and/or leverage opportunities. Projects using certain funding sources – including state Special Transportation Fund (STF) and federal FTA 5310 (Senior and Disabled Transportation) – must be consistent with the Plan. The “coordination” part of the title stems from the fact that there is always more work we can do to better coordinate among transportation providers and health and human service providers to maximize the efficient use of transportation resources and build better systems that serve more people.
